To new shores!

Sydney, 30th of March 2014...4 montjs spent here now and time to leave...
What happened in the last weeks? I'll tell ya!

The main thing that happened was the Future Music Festival on the 8th of March with an unbelievably good line-up!

Could have been a two-day festival with so many good artists on it!

We arrived when Martin Garrix finished and R3hab started.

The party with the party!

One of the best artists surely was Dada Life!
They just were sick!

This festival should have been a two-day festival since there were so many good acts and you couldn't see all the acts you wanted.

I've seen Pharrell Williams, Tinie Tempah, Macklemore&Ryan Lewis, Hard well and Deadmau5 and it was incredible!

The areas was so huge with maybe even hundreds of thousands of people!

The other day I could see some familiar faces.
Martin and Max from my home town both were in Sydney.
First I met Martin showing him some good spots and having some beers at the Opera Bar before he flew back home to Germany.
He already got the Sydney tan on which means he was totally sunburnt.
Really nice to see an familiar face after 8 months but do not expect me to be homesick now!

Martin&Martin AND Sydney harbour! There can't be anything better!

A couple of days later Max came back for a couple of days from his Tassie trip to catch his flight to Adelaide.
He visited me at work in my hostel that night and we had some nice cool beers.
Quite cool to talk to someone from your home town who did the "same" thing you do so I was quite curious how he did fare and it seems he did well! Being in New Zealand, Tasmania and the east coast he's done quite much already but my time is coming now!

Making the Cross even more insecure!

Also I finally did the northern beaches which have been on my bucket list!
When Sandra came back we went there and they are really B-E-A-utiful!

So now I have done all the stuff I really wanted to do and now I can leave Sydney without having the feeling to have missed something important.

It's 7am in the morning and in an hour my flight to Hobart will start.
So let's go Tassie!

More photos will follow soon!

Make the money

Yeah as the title already gives away I've been working quite a lot in the last weeks. Not too much happened so I'll just tell you about my work and hope you ain't bored to death.

For two weeks I've been working with Luke for his boss Andrew and we renovated a studio for Fox Studios Australia.

This kind of labouring on a construction site was quite different to what I was used to. Instead of exhausting work skill and knowledge were required which I could not always provide at first try and my boss is not the patient kind of person. All in all he is a d*ck and we didn't really come along well but as I had no really good alternative I kept working since I really needed to start saving some money for further travels and my budget was getting lower and lower after first NYE and then my being sick for weeks.
Anyway there in the studio we demolished walls, built new gyprock walls and also put on a new ceiling and with some time I got better.

However when Richard called me to offer me fulltime work in the warehouse I didn't hesitate to accept the job and here I am now back in the warehouse where it became really busy.
In the warehouse there are handbags, dresses, wallets and belts stored and daily new stock arrives or goes out to the shops.
Here I unload containers, move the stock around with a forklift and pick orders.
Moreover I sometimes check the quality or put tickets on the products which is very boring.

Moreover I'm also working in my hostel as a night manager working 4 nights a week mostly from 10pm to 3am and til morning on weekend nights.
My duties here include to close and clean the rooftop of our hostel and take care of the TV room. However most of the time I spend behind the reception desk and watch movies or plan further travels so it isn't too hard but also not as well paid.

During my weeks with Luke I've been pretty busy working up to 90 hrs a week but since I'm back in the warehouse the average now is only 65hrs which is much more comfortable.

I still have three full weeks of work ahead of me and then I'll finally leave Sydney and travel hopefully the rest of Australia and maybe even Singapore and Bali but that's still in the far future...
I just know I'll be happy to leave Sydney then and have some workfree months.

But even in an unspectacular couple of weeks like this some good things happen.

On Valentines day Borgore was playing in Ivy and Luke and I went there and it was awesome!
Borgore is seriously a damn good live DJ and we were showered with champagne a lot of times and the music was sick!

Last weekend there was a huge gay festival Mardi Gras in Sydney and we went there but it was not as good as everyone thought and we left in the middle of the parade...

This week Sandra came back to Sydney and we went out for dinner.
Because we wanted to try something new we went into a Korean restaurant and ordered some kind of spicy soup.
When the waitress put everything for us on the table it was quite a mystery how best to eat it but it was delicious!

Later on we went to the Opera bar which is just amazing and you should go there for a drink at night if you ever will be in Sydney and get the chance to do so!
