Magnetic island & Townsville & Mission Beach:
Sooo...we finally arrived in Townsville at the hostel I wanted to check in. After a good selfie (it is only a good day if you have a good self I!) and the promise to meet for a beer in Cairns they continued their trip to Mission Beach.

I went into the hostel to check in and what did I hear? "We're fully booked out sorry!" - Well shit happens so I looked on Google maps where the next hostel would be....3km away AWESOME! But this time I didn't make the same mistake and called first and, yep, they had a free bed.
So I put my 20kg luggage on my back and started to walk my long way to the hostel....and HOW damn long it was! At least 30°C and sunshine and a damn high humidity...I was as wet as if I would have had a shower before when I arrived at the hostel and it was a shower I took at first when I was in my room.
Townsville was a little bit disappointing since where was really not much to do and after a quick walk I have seen the main things there....
The next morning(14.10.'13) I checked out early and went to the lost office to send some stuff back home...41$?! for a 2kg package...I hope it will at least arrive in Germany in about 2-3 months.
After that was done I had my very long walk to the port of Townsville where the ferry terminal is located and the circumstances were the same as the day before...
After 25mins on the ferry I arrived on Magnetic Island and took the very cheap bus to my hostel X-Base. Quite a good one though....
This time I felt like I don't know anyone here and just in that moment I met...guess who! Exactly, Ko! And short time after also Felix.
So we met at the evening at the hostel's bar to have the free dinner and free welcome drink and we met some girls from France and England.
The next day we all met to snorkel and arrived at the first bay in the north of the island, Horseshoe Bay but there was nothing to do so we left it quickly with the next bus.
Our next destination was Arthur Bay so we left the bus at the bus stop and tried to find it but it was harder than expected and we took the wrong way first. After a lot of desperation we finally found the bay and how to get to it (through a crocodile river?) and it was a very beautiful bay for sure.
Stunning Arthur Bay!
We just got our stingersuit on and posed a couple of times since we were the deep sea power rangers and then we could go into the water to do our duty and go out to the reef!
The stinger season was very near and people already have seen some but that didn't stop us to explore the reef in very insecure stingersuits and I only thought that I got stung 2 times and probably only by not so dangerous stingers since it just burned a little and didn't stop me to snorkel!
The snorkeling was okay thought but there were not so many big or beautiful fishes to see...only some corals but since we just had to pay 5$ it was worth it.
That evening we got some Goon and started to drink at the beach at Goon o'clock, the perfect time!
The next morning Ko, Felix and the girls left the island but I extended my stay for another night because I thought that I didn't see as much as I wanted to.
Unfortunately it was a rainy day, the second rainy day in Australia so far for me, and I just went for a 2hrs hike to a lookout with Kelly, my Australian room mate.
That evening I went to the bar with Kelly and her friend to play booze bingo but unfortunately I only won some shots and none of the great prices....
After the game I went to the beach with Alona, an Austrian girl I met before to finish the Goon of the day before;)
The next day I wanted to see some more of the island and I went to Alba Bay with Nina, Alona's friend, and we fed rock wallabies.
Me feeding a rockwallaby...
Nina also feeding one....
Thereafter we went to The Forts and I showed Nina the romantic bay where I did snorkel 2 days before. After that was done we went into the national park to see some Koalas in wildlife but it turned out that it was damn hard to find one and we didn't see any Koalas on the way to the final lookout of the national park. At least the views were amazing so we weren't too disappointed when we started our way back but as it happens we were lucky and some people have spotted a Koala and showed him to us. What a cutie!
Can you find the Koala?:P
Continuing our way back Nina's small high turned out to be a great advantage because she could see an owl hiding in the tree and I was too tall to see it because of the green.
Awesome landscape with even better people!
All in all an amazing day with Nina and we finished it with some Goon at the beach.
We tried to make a selfi because it's only a good day if you have a good selfi but we weren't really able to get a decent one so this should do it as well!
The next morning I left Magnetic Island and took a Greyhound to Mission Beach.
Well there was not too much to see there and I just spend my time at the beach but couldn't even swim cause out the stingers so I was happy to leave the village the next day to Cairns!
